Voice Sessions

Voice sessions combine a live call with a durable Chat. The channel Voice Session panel or compact Voice Dock keeps the live participants and call controls visible. The session thread keeps messages, captions, the recap, and the transcript connected to the channel after everyone leaves.

Info

This panel requires a prepared multi-participant session. Its populated documentation image is tracked in #8743.

Open a Session

Select View session from the channel Voice Session panel, the compact Voice Dock, or an ended session card. The thread panel opens beside the channel without taking you to a separate screen.

Joining and opening are separate actions. Select Join when you want to enter the call, then select View session when you want to see its Chat or captions. Joining does not open the thread panel automatically.

Follow a Live Session

The Voice Session panel or compact Voice Dock remains the single place for live participants, speaking status, mute controls, audio devices, and leaving the call.

The live thread panel keeps two areas together:

  • Chat. Send messages to people and specialists without leaving the call context.
  • Captions. Final captions and the latest words in progress appear below Chat. Drag the divider to give Captions between 24 and 55 percent of the panel. Chat keeps a minimum usable height.

Select CC in the Voice session header to hide or show Captions. The app remembers the choice and divider position on this device. When you scroll up through caption history, automatic scrolling pauses and the down-arrow button returns you to the newest speech.

The live voice controls remain available outside the thread panel. Participants, media, and call controls are not repeated inside the thread.

Review an Ended Session

When the last participant leaves, the open panel stays in place and changes to the ended session view. Overview opens first and shows:

  • the session summary;
  • action items;
  • participants; and
  • duration.

Use Chat to see messages sent during the call and the session-ended divider. Once the session ends, Chat becomes read-only for both people and specialists.

Opening Overview does not mark hidden Chat replies as read. The thread read position advances only after you select Chat and view those replies.

Use Transcript for a read-only list of finalized utterances in speaking order. Interim speech is not included. Each speaker group shows when it started, and utterances from the same speaker stay together until the speaker changes or five minutes pass.

Transcript text remains selectable when you need to copy part of it.

If some speech could not be transcribed, a warning appears above the saved portion. The panel distinguishes a session where nobody spoke, a transcription failure, and older sessions that do not have transcript availability data.

Close the Panel

Select the close button in the thread panel header to return to the full channel view. Closing removes the session composer and captions from the screen, but it does not leave an active call. The channel Voice Session panel or compact Voice Dock remains available when you want to mute yourself or leave.
